Seeburger: AS4/ebMS 3.0 communications made easy

A modern B2B gateway to your partners

AS4 is quickly gaining traction. AS4, short for Applicability Statement 4, is a so-called Conformance Profile of the ebXML/ebMS 3.0 (Electronic Business Message Services) specification. As such, it is governed by well-known OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards).

As a modern WebServices-based stack of protocols, AS4/ebMS 3.0 offers many advantages over home-grown EDI communications solutions.
Widespread adoption gaining momentum

Several projects in the European Union have already approved AS4 as a standard protocol for document-oriented data interchange. Europe's Gas Transmission System Operators (ENTSOG) have defined their own Usage Profile, being adopted in 2015. For government-to-business (G2B) or business-to-government (B2G) communications, Europe's e-SENS (Electronc Simple European Networked Services) points to ebMS 3.0, while the European Committee for Standardization (CEN, Comité Européen de Normalisation) suggests using ebMS 3.0 in its Reference Architecture 2.0 for eBusiness harminisation in Textile/Clothing and Footwear sectors (CWA 16667). Europe's Aerospace & Defence industry, currently using ebMS2, will follow suit.

In other parts of the world, AS4 and ebMS 3.0 are being adopted, too. Japan's JEITA uses ebMS 3.0, and Australia's SuperStream project also comes into mind.
