Management of Metadata and XML Schemas for e-Justice interoperability

A paper has been presented at the I-ESA conference on the use of ebXML Core Components and UN/CEFACT Naming and Design Rules for e-Justice. The slides of the presentation show MDW-Lite, a tool to support management of core components, business information entities and generate CEFACT-compliant XML schemas.

From the abstract:

Effective collaboration across the boundaries of organizations is as much a challenge in the justice and public safety sectors as it is in electronic business applications. Semantic interoperability is a cornerstone for effective exchange of structured information. Metadata management is about establishing interoperability within and across communities using standardized vocabularies and applying semantic agreements in exchange formats and document schemas. These should be managed in response to evolving requirements, capabilities, political priorities and societal needs. This paper describes the use of e-business standards, in particular concepts and methods from ebXML and UN/CEFACT, to achieve interoperability in the Justice and public safety systems in the Netherlands.
