About XML.org

XML.org Focus Areas serve as community gathering places and non-commercial information resources. They advance the use of open standards by providing technical and educational materials, collaborative workspaces, and discussion areas. They are funded and maintained by members of OASIS, the international standards consortium.

Use of XML.org Focus Areas are subject to the Terms of Use and these Editorial Guidelines.

XML.org features two types of Focus Areas, those dedicated to specific OASIS Standards and those showcasing the use of XML in horizontal and vertical sectors of the marketplace.

Knowledge Base Pages

Each XML.org Focus Area features a Knowledge Base of technical and educational information, which is delivered via pages created and maintained by XML.org Editorial Boards.

Today Pages

The Today Focus Area section serves as a community bulletin board and directory where readers share topical information and recommend useful resources. These pages feature specialized forms to enable easy and consistent postings of news releases, announcements, events, products, services, testimonials, and other resources. A link to the appropriate content submission form is provided at the top of each Today page.

Wiki Pages

Each XML.org Focus Area also includes Wiki pages that enable any registered user to edit existing pages and add new ones. All registered users are invited to contribute content to this section by following the instructions for Contributing Wiki Content

Editorial Guidelines

XML.org is not intended to serve as a repository for materials. When referencing external publications (including press releases, white papers, books, etc.), authors should insert excerpts or summaries and provide links to the full document. Authors should not re-publish works in full on XML.org, nor should they relinquish copyrights on their materials.

When referencing XML.org content on other sites or documents, individuals should respect the source of the material and include appropriate attribution. See Editorial Guidelines and Terms of Use for more details on contributing content.

Registration

All XML.org pages are viewable by the public. To edit or post content in a Today or Wiki section, it is necessary first to register for an XML.org Focus Area login and password. This step minimizes spam and other inappropriate content. Once registration is complete, an individual is able to log in to any XML.org Focus Area--separate registration for each XML.org Focus Area is not required.

Editorial Boards

Creation and oversight of content for each XML.org Focus Area is provided by an Editorial Board. Participation in these groups is open to any OASIS member interested in actively advancing the use of OASIS Standards and specifications. Contact OASIS Communications for details.

Sponsorship

XML.org is sponsored by OASIS members who are committed to advancing the use of open standards worldwide. OASIS gratefully acknowledges the financial support of these organizations.

It is possible to sponsor the entire XML.org web site or specific Focus Areas. For information, review OASIS Information Channel Sponsorship or contact OASIS Communications.

Open Source Platform

XML.org Focus Areas are based on Drupal, an open source content management platform.

Sister Sites

In addition to XML.org, OASIS hosts several other web sites dedicated to promoting and enabling the use of open, interoperable, standards-based solutions:
