Business Process

The ebXML Business Process (ebBP) OASIS Standard provides a business process foundation that promotes the automation and predictable exchange of business collaboration definitions using XML. The specification is advanced by the OASIS ebXML Business Process Technical Committee, a group that remains open to new participation.

This specification that extends the original ebXML BPSS work performed jointly with UN/CEFACT is now available.  It adds critical new ground-breaking capabilities and functions that provide the ability to define the business process mechanisms (BPM) between external parties in a eBusiness collaboration.  Some examples include an eMarketplace, eTourism services, or buyer/seller web services such as the Amazon.com model.

New in 2.0.4 is the ability to define context variables, signals and to specify extended document handled services.  The overall modelling support has been refined so that BPSS 2.0.4 can represent much more complex business interactions and handle real world exception workflows.

There is also an open source modelling tool available that is built using the Eclipse framework.  This tool was developed as part of the EU funded RIDE project.
